Kenya Summer School 2026
In collaboration with the University of Eldoret, this school is titled: ‘Determining Destines: Youth, Entrepreneurship and Democracy in the Digital Age,’ and will take place in Kenya.
As authoritarianism rises globally, many governments are restricting civil society, media freedom, and political participation through repressive laws. At the same time, Kenya’s strong ICT infrastructure and high digital adoption have enabled many young people to engage in the innovation and knowledge-based economy.
Accordingly, this school will explore:
1. The exploitation of digital tools among the youth to advance democratic participation.
2. How young people are leveraging the advent of online technology to participate in the digital entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The summer school takes place from the 8th to the 14th of November 2026, and by the end of the school, students will have led a public awareness campaign offered in collaboration with UNESCO. This campaign will seek to draw attention to the resilience of youth activists and entrepreneurs in diverse and disadvantaged contexts.
